Auditory Spiral's DJ Shamus
One of the originators of the Australian techno scene, he created the now synonymous weekly techno radio show, Auditory Spiral on RTRfm - responsible for exposing some of the biggest acts to have come out of the movement to an ever evolving listenership. Shamus could be heard on Perth Airwaves for over 10 years playing his take on a newly bourgeoning underground dance movement. He had earnt a reputation around the traps for putting the most uncompromising techno tapes out there with early Detroit sounds from the +8 & UR crews, mixed up with the sounds of the town; the belgian beats and roar of the early 90's rave generator. And so began, with Auditory Spiral as one of it's founders, a history that would help build Perth an enduring testiment to the Techno / Electronic music community. Auditory Spiral came to an end on New Year 2005 after dominating the future music soundscape for such a long time. It will be sadly missed by so many! Meanwhile this page will serve as a portal for DJ Shamus until new projects surface, after a well earned break from weekly broadcasting for over 14 years. DJ Shamus of radio show 'Auditory Spiral' fame has played some of Perth's top techno gigs over the past decade with support for International Techno djs of the likes of Eddie 'Flashin' Fowlkes, Jeff Mills, John Tejada, Villalobos and Alexander Kowalski; and has played many intimate - exploratory techno gigs.
Shamus has been making some random - conspicuous appearances on RTRfm of late in the wee hours of Friday night.. see if you can catch a show on there! Stacks of new wax.
